Cortez Subsea Limited Contract Award in support of the Pipeline System for Tembikai Non-Associated Gas Development

Aberdeen, 1st April 2019 – Cortez Subsea Limited have been awarded a contract by Alam Maritim Sdn. Bhd. to support their recently awarded Pipeline System for Tembikai Non-Associated Gas (TNAG) Development by Vestigo Petroleum Sdn. Bhd.

Cortez Subsea, under its consortium agreement with Alam Maritim will jointly execute the project scope of work covering the engineering, procurement and operational activities from their offices in Kuala Lumpur. The work starts immediately and is targeted for completion in Q4 2019.

The TNAG gas pipeline system will be installed from the new TNAG unmanned wellhead platform via a 60 km, 12” pipeline and fibre optic control cable. The rigid pipeline will be the first in offshore Malaysia installed using mechanical connectors, and specifically the NOV-Tuboscope Zap-Lok™ connection, tied into the existing processing facilities on the Berantai Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) and the Well Head Platform (WHP) with flexible risers connected to the rigid pipeline with diverless connections.

NOV-Tuboscope’s Line Pipe Product Director, Dr Benjamin Chapman said “the foresight of Vestigo Petroleum in implementing Zap-Lok and associated services has proven to be successful and is a key project for NOV. This will demonstrate for the first-time in Malaysia, tried and tested technology and expertise practised offshore in other parts of the world.”

Cortez Subsea Coiled Tubing Pipelay Project

Cortez Subsea recently completed the laying of 80 km of 4.5″ coiled tubing pipe (CTP) in the Baltic Sea for Lotos Petrobaltic to facilitate the transportation of gas from the B8 field platform to the Energobaltic CHP Plant in Wladyslawowo

The Cortez Subsea scope consisted of pipeline installation engineering plus supply of installation equipment, all offshore personnel and management of the pipeline installation operation

This project showcased Cortez Subsea’s ability to deliver not only our Zap-Lok pipelay product but also more conventional methods in a fast and very cost effective manner

Cortez Subsea takes delivery of first Modular Pipelay System (MPS®)

Cortez Subsea have recently taken delivery of their patented and first in series Modular Pipelay System (MPS®). The MPS® offer a key differentiator versus traditional offshore pipelay, it allows the use of mechanical interference connectors, including the NOV Zap-Lok™ to be used in place of traditional welding, allowing a pipeline to be laid from a standard DP 2 vessel thereby eliminating the cost of a specialist pipelay vessel and significantly decreasing installation time. The MPS® comprises all the equipment necessary to perform pipelay on standard pipe sizes of 4-inch to 16-inch in an S-lay configuration in water depths up to 150mtr. The nature of the MPS® means it is adjustable in width and length to cater for available deck space and the amount of product to be installed. Cortez Subsea intends to develop further MPS® systems by 2020, enabling us situate MPS® systems in various global locations and allow quicker mobilisation for pipeline installation projects.
